Marjorie's Cracked Plate Jewelry is designed from broken pieces of china, porcelain or ceramic. Each plate, teacup or mug is broken into pieces using mosaic nippers. Then the piece is hand filed to a smooth, attractive shape. Two coats of varnish are applied. The jewelry piece is then wrapped by hand with wire. The necklaces, chokers and bracelets are hand crocheted with thin wire. Even the clasps are handmade. The wire used is artist wire. The gold wire is made from brass and the silver and copper wire is made from copper. It will not tarnish. Sterling silver can tarnish and can leave tarnish marks on the china and/or sea glass - you have no need to concern yourself with that when you purchase one of Marjorie's pieces. Plus sterling silver is expensive to purchase and is not used so that prices can be kept reasonable. The sea glass jewelry is made from authentic sea glass found on the beaches of the Jersey Shore. It is not tumbled sea glass. Broken china jewelry is a totally "green" experience! Cracked and chipped china no longer needs to be thrown away - it can now be transformed into stunning pieces of jewelry that will be treasured for years to come. I've lived on the Jersey Shore all my life and work full time as a
paralegal. My daughter Rebecca also works as a paralegal and is a
student at Boston University. I love animals and do all that I
can to help fight injustices that are done to them. I'm a
vegetarian. My two cats, Dickon and Patches, are my delightful
